1000 Horsepower C7 Corvette Sets World Record With Stock Internals (Video)
Published December 30, 2016
Setting a new world speed record in any production based vehicle is no average challenge to tackle. This C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is now the world’s fastest with a stock engine and manual transmission. That means that, while it boasts huge horsepower, it still has the base 6.2L powerplant that the factory made.
World Record With Stock Internals
With no forged internals, we’re wondering how it contains the explosive power of generating 1000 horsepower. This car is no longer the sports car it once was even though the rear differential and gearbox are also still stock. However, to get to this level of power, this C7 has been run down the route of a Procharger. This means that there’s a turbocharger driven by a belt building compression and helping to deliver that 1000.
Launching this car has never been an easy task so the driver has obviously been practicing this skill. The end result is a world record that will be hard for the next challenger to touch. In the video below, we get nearly three minutes to admire the aggressive power and skill of the car and driver. It looks and sounds great as it tears down the strip and leaves the competition in its dust.
Check out the video and let us know what you think of this new world record holder’s powerful showing. We’d love to hear about any other world records that are being shattered on any track across the world. Feel free to share your thoughts with us as well as other readers in the comments below.
