2013 Dodge Avenger
Published March 16, 2013
Like so many other models, this midsize sedan also got only a few minor changes in 2013. The 2013 Dodge Avenger is more or less the same model as the previous year one, which is alright, since the Dodge Avenger got an extensive makeover few years ago.
If we had to describe the 2013 Dodge Avenger with just a few words, they would be “Good Enough”. The car is adequate when compared other midsize sedans, but there is a lot of competition out there and they are trying really hard to attract new customers. While the Avenger looks rather nice, it’s the small things that make it fall behind. For example the car has an average looking interior design that lacks popular electronic features such as parking sensors and a rearview camera, a cramped back seat and only 13.4 cubic feet of cargo room. The front seat also feels a bit high which is a trick to get more leg room. The touch screen also features an unintuitive design that feels really outdated. The car comes in 3 trim levels. The basic one being SE which, surprisingly enough, gives a lot of accessories right from the start. SXT will give you more of the popular amenities while R/T trim level will make driving the Avenger a better experience thanks to the stronger V6 engine and sport-tuned suspension.
The 2013 Avenger comes with a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine that will provide enough power for the average user. 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque is nothing to get excited about but it will get you where you are going. The engine has an average fuel economy with 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. You get to choose between 4 speed automatic and 6 speed automatic transmission, depending on the trim level. The R/T will get you a bit more exciting driving experience as the 3.6 liter V6 engine can produce 260 lb-ft of torque and 283 horsepower. This will get you from 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds which is not bad for a midsize sedan. The fuel economy however cannot compare with the 2.4 liter engine. The steering in the 2013 Dodge Avenger is nice and crisp but still not as good as some of the competition’s.
Dodge offered their customers a good midsized sedan in the form of 2013 Avenger. But we live in a time when good is simply not good enough. The competition offers a more in almost every aspect and if you want the most for your money, you would do better to look at some other model. While the Avenger is somewhat cheaper than the competition, it lacks several things that are important to most people. While the Avenger is far from being a bad vehicle it simply doesn’t offer anything that could impress the potential customer and therefore usually gets ignored. As we said before, if you want a good car, you’ll do more than fine with the 2013 Dodge Avenger, but if you want more than you should look into the likes of Ford Fusion, Volkswagen Passat, Nissan Altima or Honda Accord.
