2016 Hyundai Tucson received Looks You’ll Like And Tech You’ll Be Amazed About
Hyundai Tucson, or the ix35 as the car has been known in Europe, never really was the car that would pop into your mind if someone asks you what is your dream SUV!? This car has been made for reasonable buyers who do not buy with heart, but with reason. So, high equipment level, affordable price and looks that we could call “balanced” did the thing. Now, when second gen car was being phased out, Hyundai wants to add a dash of the emotion and of that “unreasonableness” to it.
Revealing the pictures of the whole new 2016 Tucson fifteen days before the unveiling at this years Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai really steered up the segment of compact SUVs. First of, the looks of it are much better and much more mature than the looks of the old version even though we have to point out that the currently available Hyundai Tucson is a nice looking piece of machinery designed by former BMW designer. The new one is even better. It finally received the aggressive look at the front end that echoes that what we seen on the latest Santa Fe. That really is a good thing. On the other side, at the back, the newest Tucson follows the design philosophy started with the newest Hyundai city car the i20. Horizontally laid out lights are nicely decorated with the LEDs and the whole feel of the car is much more in line with that what we see on the newest European and Japanese compact SUVs.
The interior received a special treatment as well. Everything is changed, but not by much. Interestingly, the touch display is still on the front of the console. We know that premium manufacturers are getting their displays on the dash, but Hyundai did not tamper with it too much.
Hyundai clearly wanted to stay away from the premium niche, but they did improve every single thing inside. Soft touch materials used for the dash, door panels and other surfaces human hand frequently touch, speak for themselves and make the Tucson interior a nice place to be in. However, it seems that the interior design simply does not follow the futuristic style of the outside. The lines inside are rather simple. Actually, we dare to say that the last gen Sonata had more intricate interior styling than this Tuscon. However, this type of the interior somehow looks more elegant or even more serious than before. Also, the dimensions are slightly changed. The Tucson has grown a few inches and the wheelbase had been lengthened by just over one inch. That created a roomier cabin which is finished up with the boot capacity of 513 liters.
Driver is honored with some nice tech also. Even though the entry level car is only a FWD and it is powered by a small diesel engine, higher spec trims bring interesting equipment including four wheel drive, seven speed dual clutch transmission, 1.6-liter turbocharged unit developing 176 HP (combo known from Veloster) and complex safety systems including Smart Parking Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist System, Rear Traffic Cross Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Speed Limit Information Function and Active Bonnet System. Top notch safety equipment and driving aids are the best proof that the 2015 Hyundai Tucson left the dreary segment of Korean SUVs and powerfully started its way toward the top of the class.
