Revealed: 2019 Jeep Cherokee With A New Face And (probably) A New Engine
Two liter Turbocharged unit for The 2019 Cherokee With More Torques Than A V6
Although we can expect full information about it at the NAIAS, the first pictures of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee did surface the web. Jeep did not report much about their latest endeavor, but one sentence in their early “sneak-peak” Press Release caught my eye.
“The most capable mid-size sport-utility vehicle (SUV) boasts a new, authentic and more premium design, along with even more fuel-efficient powertrain options.”
“The most capable!” They are confident.
2019 Jeep Cherokee looks almost conservative
First photographs of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee reveal quite an obvious departure from the quirky and somewhat bizarre styling of before. While some may say that the car became just another small SUV on the market, I would argue that it still has a bit of that oddness to it. In a good way this time.
Front lights slightly angled towards the middle remained rather narrow. This corresponds well with Jepp seven-piece grille. Sure, the SUV is more conservative than before. Yet, it seems it kept some of the oddity we tend to expect from it. It does not matter if you find this styling conservative or not, the fact is it reminds a bit of what one can see on . While the sheer number of styling changes at the rear is limited, one major difference is quite striking. Now, the license plate placement is in the middle of the rear doors. Not on the rear bumper which was the case before. Thanks to this change, rear bumper seems a bit more refined. Like it should on a car that will dominate the city streets. On the other hand, rear lights, while retaining the same shape, received more advanced LED segments and, at least on the pictured variant, seem to be tinted. Works well on the Limited guise.
Updated inside as well
Changes on the inside should make the Cherokee a bit more luxurious. While the shapes remained much the same, you can expect a bit plusher materials, probably some changes to improve NVH levels and a bit more high-grade equipment.
If nothing, the graphics on the instrument panel and on the center display look classy.
New two-liter engine from Wrangler Will Land In The Cherokee As Well
The most important novelty, though, maybe the introduction of the two-liter turbocharged engine for the Cherokee. It is the same unit as in . With 270hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, it will definitely be a nice addition to the lineup. With it, one can expect to see that well-known 2.4-liter with 184hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. As for the V6, we are yet to see will continue with it? This small turbocharged unit already has a healthy 56lb-ft of torque advantage over the 3.2-liter V6 offered in the Cherokee of before.
