BMW’s G310R: Price And Release Dates Revealed!
A Dealership Has Unexectedly Announced The Prices Of The BMW G310R
A British dealership has unexpectedly published the price of ’s entry level G310R model, and in terms of “bang for buck” it’s a steep price to pay when compared to its nearest competitors. The price isn’t over the top, but if you’re looking for a small displacement machine, it might be better to look elsewhere. However, this is BMW’s first foray into the small cc division for almost 60 years, so though it might be a bit pricier than the rest, it’s definitely a landmark model.
And the price? Well, according to British dealership Blade BMW, you can pick up a G310R for £4,290 – or roughly $5,750 – and will be on sale from October 1st of this year (2016). Let’s not forget that the Pound Sterling is in a bit of turmoil at the moment, so take the exchange rate with a pinch of salt. Anyway, the price seems a little steep, but you do get some good stuff with it.
The G310R comes with a liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine that’s capable of producing 34hp and 28 Nm of torque at the 7,500 rpm marker. The interesting thing about the engine’s design is the reversed angle of the cylinder, which puts the air intake at the front. The exhaust now exits from the engine in a straight line… On top of that, the G310R comes equipped with a six speed, wet clutch transmission, 10 levels of adjustable rear suspension, a digital display and ABS as standard. Apparently, it weighs a mere 158 kg, and can do 0 -60 mph in about 7.2 seconds.
We were a bit hard on the price when we mentioned it above, but compared to other bikes in its class, the G310R commands the highest price, and the smallest power output. The FZ-03 (MT-03) retails at around $5,466 and boasts 42hp. The Z300 sells for about $5,650 and offers 39hp. And then we’ve got the Duke 390, which is the cheapest of the lot at $5,400 (ish) but produces an impressive 43.5hp. In terms of actual bang for your buck, the BMW isn’t a smart choice.
However…owning such a unique bike is probably worth the minor cost differences. Don’t forget though, that the G310R, like the KTM 390, is being produced in India…and that may deter potential buyers. Having said that, the build quality coming from KTM’s India division has been rather impressive, and the minor hiccups that you see reported shouldn’t be enough to put you off.
