Carhartt Silverado HD Concept At SEMA 2016
SEMA is in full swing in Las Vegas and we’re seeing all sorts of partnerships for cool vehicles. GM and Carhartt Inc got friendly enough to present a Special Edition Silverado. The automaker and clothing line got together to blend power and durability in this HD model.
The reworked V8 Duramax turbo diesel under the hood turns out 445 horsepower and 910lb-ft of torque. All that power is also channeled through a high quality Allison transmission. Part of the build process was adding the Z71 kit which provides an additional 1″ to 3″ of lift.
Most of what the majority of onlookers will notice though are the cosmetic changes. Custom made 20″ alloys wrapped in Firestone Destination M/T rubber replace the stock option. A special new black paint mix partners well with nickel accents as well as golden pinstripes.
There are also new special logos on the head rests and floor mats as well as revised Silverado badging. Even more of the Carhartt character comes through on the interior redesigns. The seating, console, and door panels are all clad in leather. These get the same triple stitching that makes the clothing company’s products so durable. There’s even a Carhartt orange tonneau cover which should be as durable as their other additions.
Further improvements to the functionality comes through several different practical upgrades. The Silverado gets a new wireless rear camera for easy reversing and trailer hitching. The box gets upgraded with a spray bed liner and complete with electrical outlets for the job site. A light bar at the front leads the way for adventures and new tow hooks to the front and rear are a nice reassurance. A custom toolbox in the bed as well as cargo accessories from GearOn complete the upgrade suite.
We don’t know everything about this new Carhartt Silverado HD concept but we will after SEMA. It’s possible that this could be a limited special edition or some options may be offered on new trucks. Both would be great additions to a Silverado’s optional upgrades at the dealership. For now, we wait until SEMA concludes to see what GM has to say about the future of this unique and durable truck.
