Ford Focus RS and the new Mustang will receive the same engine
Some details become known about the next generation of the fastest Ford Focus. The modification RS in the Ford Company is intended to be equipped with a five – door body, with a new four – cylinder turbo engine and will release to the market no earlier than 2014.
The developers of Ford Focus RS, of the most powerful hatchback in the model line, intend to give up the current 2.5 – liter turbo engine. The main reason is called the excessive fuel consumption. To replace the five – cylinder unit comes a four – cylinder one with the volume of about 2.3 liters, according to the edition Top Gear. According to the publication, with such a power unit with direct fuel injection and the turbo charging is planned to remove at least 320 horsepower. It is also known that a similar engine will be installed on the new generation of the coupe Mustang.
An all – wheel drive Ford Focus RS will not get. It is not only the possible rise in price and the increase of the weight that the developers are afraid to face the purely technical difficulties in the integration of the all wheel drive in the understated sports chassis, according to the portal World Car Fans. On the other hand the hatchback will retain the unique front suspension RevoKnuckle. In addition, the Ford Company will continue to produce the fastest Focus only in the five – door body. It is expected that the new generation of Ford Focus RS will appear on the market in early 2014.
