The Raptor Ranger is Coming
Digital Experts Unwrap What Ford’s Been Hiding Down Under
For all of the Ranger lovers out there, this one is for you. Ford has previously announced they will reveal a 2019 Ranger Raptor in Australia, and its getting closer and closer! With new renderings from Ranger supporters, we can get a speculative guess as to what this beauty is going to look like. We can also hope and anticipate it’s coming stateside sometime thereafter. The teasers coming from Down Under don’t give a whole lot of details to work with, but we can make some educated guesses as to what its going to look like and what the powertrain is going to entail.
Here’s what we know:
Ford Australia has taken the lead since 2011 on reinventing and Ranger, and keeping some part of its once glorious flame alive. While we haven’t seen any of that potential here in the US since 2012 models, Ranger engineers have not been sitting idle. Ford has announced they are releasing a new line of Ford Rangers, and that they are going to hit markets by 2018 as a 2019 model. However, they are not stopping there.
With Ford Australia’s success with the F-150 Raptor, rumors are now flooding the internet about a Ford Ranger Raptor. Fanatics and foes everywhere are craving more information and more news about what this monster is going to encompass, and when we can have our American version. While we do not know much, Ford released an uncompromising video that definitely gets the blood pumping. You can check it out below.
Aficionados at Rangr5G Forum took that video and digitally peeled off the camo to create their best renderings of what we can expect to see in the coming months. Keep in mind these paint jobs are optimistic, and there is room for change regarding hood scoops and fender flares, but these are pretty close to what we imagine popping out from all that wrapping paper in Ford’s video.
No one but Ford Australia employees truly know what we are going to get in the means of power and off-road capabilities, but it doesn’t sound like we are going to be disappointed. Start placing your bets on turbos, engine choice, and transmission options. Most people are guessing its going to have Ford’s 10-speed automatic for that perfectly smooth and seamless ride we all want. But what about the rest?
Since Ford Australia has done all of the work, it makes since they would be the first to see puppies in action. Ford surely sees the profitability of an American version with Chevy’s recent success in the small truck class. We truly believe its just a matter of time before we get all the juicy details on these ramped-up Ranger Raptors, so hang tight. This new take on Ford classics is going to take the market by storm, and we are excited about seeing the new Broncos as well.
