Leaked Pictures! Is That A Benelli 750?
It’s a poor quality picture, but it has a lot to say! Clearly it’s a slow week for the motorcycle pages – and it’s at times like this when rumors fly fastest but this isn’t a mere rumor. This is a genuine leak. Now, have been given a hard time by critics over the last few years, no doubt because of their Chinese ownership, but having ridden a TNT 899, I think they’re a brand worth keeping in mind next time you’re shopping for a new motorcycle, especially if you’re looking for something that comes with a , and an affordable price tag. So, maybe this grainy picture might inspire your next purchase?
First things first: this fairly low-res pic has been leaked from a source at Benelli, along with rumors that the Italian firm are working on a naked motorcycle set to be unveiled later on this year. The rumors have also leaked a codename for the machine, the BJ750GS. We’ve seen Benelli use the hilarious BJ acronym before, followed by “500GS” which eventually turned out to be the TRK502. Using that logic, and childishly laughing at “BJ”, it seems that they’ve got plans for a 750cc machine. Are we looking at the TNT750? I think so. Being famed for their three cylinder configuration, it seems highly likely that they’ll be following that same trend for this mystery model.
The rumor also notes that this model is going to be produced in Italy, and come with an affordable price tag – although we haven’t heard what that’s likely to be. If a low price point is on the cards, it seems likely that this Benelli won’t come with all of the usual gear that we’re used to with other Italian brand names, so you can probably forget about Brembo brakes or Marzocchi suspension. In this image though, you can see some aggressive bodywork, a new frame, a single radiator, and a whole new instrument cluster – when compared with the existing TNT models. The location of the exhaust is also different than the rest of the TNT family, sitting on the sides, rather than under the seat.
Anyway, we’ll have to wait for more shots and something a bit more substantial that a leak to give you the lowdown. But at first glance, would this be enough to tempt you to buy a Benelli? If the price point ends up being reasonable, I might even go for one myself… We’ll have to wait to find out more though, as the leak mentions that the bike won’t be unveiled until later on this year (2016). EICMA, anyone?
