Officially the Future is here – Tesla’s Autopilot Drives a Man to The Hospital
Tesla Model X drove for over 20 miles on autopilot in order to bring its owner to the hospital.
Joshua Neally, a 37-years-old attorney, is glad that he spent his hard-earned money on the Tesla as the car literally saved his life. Joshua had worked very hard in order to get enough money to get this car and just after a month of owning it, he can say the investment has paid off.
A few weeks ago Joshua was driving from his office in Springfield to Branson, where he lives, when suddenly he felt pain in the chest and abdomen. After consulting his wife on the phone, the lawyer decided to go to the hospital. The problem was that the pain was so hard that he couldn’t drive.
Luckily for Joshua, his Tesla Model X was equipped with a semi-autonomous driving system. The car drove on its own for over 20 miles on the highway. The only thing Joshua had to do is to steer it in the hospital’s parking lot.
It is not an exaggeration saying that the Tesla saved this guy’s life as the doctors found that he had pulmonary embolism, a condition in which lungs stop working because of an obstruction of a blood vessel. According to doctors, his life was in real danger. Luckily, all went fine and Joshua left home the same evening.
This is a nice counter story to what we’ve been hearing lately about autopilots. Obviously, this technology is still in the early stages, but it’s no doubt it will become a common thing in the next couple of years.
