Porsche 911 Turbo S Sends Tesla P100D Back To Drag Racing School (Video)
Published January 2, 2017
We’ve seen so many people hitting the drag strips with their Tesla Model S P110Ds as of late. It seems like these guys are willing to pit their ludicrous speed mode against practically anything. This time though, a modded Porsche 911 Turbo S sends the Tesla packing in reaction and elapsed times.
Watching the video, we get to see the stats and equipment of the two cars before they line up. The Porsche is running a Champion cat back exhaust as well as the same brand intercoolers. It also runs a Werks Airbox on top of a tune that puts it in top drag racing form. Before upgrades, this car comes off the showroom floor with 530 stock horsepower to the rear wheels.
Meanwhile, the P100D is in its completely stock form. This means that its all wheel drive platform is driven by dual electric motors. In the rear, we’re seeing 503 horsepower as well as 259 more in the front. We’ve seen this exact car knock out so many cars on the drag strip that what happens next is shocking.
Not only is there a noticeable gap in the reaction times, but a quarter of the way down the strip, the Porsche is gone. We only get a brief shot of the reaction times from each car before the elapsed time results pop up. The Tesla was the slower with 1.6 while the Porsche was slightly faster off the line with 1.49.
At the end of the line, we see the Tesla coming in with a slower elapsed time paired with its slow start. The P100D hit 10.861 seconds at 121.77mph while the Porsche cleared 10.503 at 127.93mph. If you don’t believe that the P100D has been dethroned, feel free to check out the video below!
