The Laramie Longhorn Combining Cowboy-Couture With Luxury Equipment
Trucks are known as tough, rugged vehicles, that apart from transportation, are intended to be used for deliveries and hauling, but they are also used as police cars and fire vehicles. They are quite versatile, which is one of the reasons why so many Americans love them. But, trucks do have a couple of downsides, such as the uncomfortable interior, the lack of elegance and luxury features, and the fact that they are generally not very safe, mainly because of the uneven distribution of weight. However, there is one truck that was unveiled recently, that addresses these issues. It’s the 2013 Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn, a truck that has lots of high-tech features and an interior made of luxury materials.
The Laramie Longhorn is a four-wheel-drive truck, that is quite different from most other trucks. It’s an elegant, stylish looking vehicle, that has the high-tech devices and connectivity that can usually only be found in a Mercedes, a BMW or some other luxury vehicle. The cabin of the Longhorn is much more comfortable than most other trucks, with premium leather seats, embossed with Ram’s logo, along with pouches that look a lot like saddlebags, and floor mats featuring moldings that look like a barbed wire. Parts of the dashboard are also covered in leather, along with some chrome accents. On top of being covered in leather, both the first-row and second-row seats are heated and ventilated, and they are power-adjustable.
If the attention to detail in the interior of the truck, that can be noticed on the seats, the dashboard and the door panels, doesn’t impress you, the truck’s infotainment system should do the job. An 8.4-inch color touch screen is in the center of the the so-called Uconnect infotainment system, which has seven functions. You can use it for navigation, text messaging, as well as climate control. You can listen to SiriusXM satellite radio, and you can connect the system to your iPod or some other media player through one of the two USB ports. There are several apps you can use through the Uconnect system, and it provides in-car Wi-Fi connectivity, which costs $9.99 a day. The system is practically a mobile office, that allows you to stay connected to your job, making hands-free phone calls, and sending e-mails and text messages.
You may think that Chrysler has focused too much on the infotainment system and interior decoration, instead of the truck’s performances, but you won’t feel that way after you see what’s under the hood of the 2013 Laramie Longhorn. It’s powered by a very powerful 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, inline 6-cylinder engine, with 380 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. It features a 6-speed AISIN automatic transmission, which provides increased efficiency, a 3-link front suspension, and a spring rear suspension, that make for increased towing and payload capability. This truck has a better fuel economy than most trucks, with 21 mpg/highway and 15 mpg/city. In a word, it’s a strong, powerful truck, with a comfortable interior that can be yours for $52,790.
