The Zarooq SandRacer 500GT – A $450,000 Off-Road Supercar
Wanna Go 100 MPH On Any Terrain? Zarooq Has You Covered
It’s a given that the Arabs go all out when it comes to cars. Just Google Dubai and you’ll stumble upon a treasure trove of gold-plated supercars and some of the world’s most insane police interceptors. Keeping in the fashion of going way over-the-top on their vehicles, Zarooq, a UAE-based vehicle manufacturer, recently released its first car:
The SandRacer 500GT.
The SandRacer 500GT is a $450,000 6.2L V8-powered dune buggy that is built to be just as capable on-road as it is off-road. The carbon-fiber bodied, mid-engined thrill machine was designed by the same man who brought us the Lykan Hypersport made popular by the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. Similarly, the Zarooq SandRacer 500GT is a two-seater supercar but with the added capability of going off road. The dune buggy’s 518hp and 487 lb.-ft. of torque powers the rear wheels with help from a 5-speed sequential automatic gearbox.
With all that muscle, it has to be pretty beefy, right? Wrong.
The Zarooq SandRacer 500GT weighs in at just 1,200kg (2,645lbs). The car’s Dakar rally-grade Intrax dampers allow up to 45cm of travel, lending their capabilities to the vehicle’s two driving modes: Road and Sand. It also isn’t as military as it sounds; Mansory helped craft the tailor-stitched leather seats and a full infotainment system to provide some creature comforts for the cabin’s occupants.
Unfortunately, only 35 are being made, meaning you’ll have to gather that $450,000 fast if you want one! Deliveries start later this year.
